Scooter MOTs

We carry out MOT tests at our Blackburn and Manchester Showrooms.

We are a class 1 and 2 test station this means we can test all motorcycles and scooters including combinations.

MOT tests are on an appointment basis on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Should you turn up without an appointment, we will always try to fit a test in, however this may not be possible, so it is best to ring and confirm an appointment prior to setting off.

Should your vehicle have no MOT then you must ensure that you have at least third party insurance and an MOT appointment. You are then allowed to ride to and from the test centre, thus enabling the test to be performed. You are not permitted to take a detour round the Yorkshire dales and stop at your favourite café for a bacon butty!

We do get the police checking on occasions as to whether a Motorcycle or scooter is booked in. We can only confirm actual appointments, as they require us to tell them who and what is booked in on a particular day.

The test itself really is nothing to worry about. Having been involved in motorcycle testing for over thirty years, it has been good to see how the test has been streamlined and enhanced to cover all the essential safety aspects. With modern machines the fail rate is low, but even if your machine is in pristine condition and only does a few miles every year it is well worth the effort and cost of an external pair of eyes checking the major parts like brakes, tyres and lights.

Although it can be disappointing if brake pads are found to be delamination with age and aren’t worn out, I would much rather find out in a workshop environment than at the end of the M65.

The object of our testers is to pass your bike. We will often give you advice and a fail certificate will only be issued when an item is clearly a fail. My advice is don’t worry about the test unnecessarily and if there is something you’re not sure about, like does my bike need mirrors, a pillion seat or can I obtain a daytime only certificate, then please don’t hesitate to contact us.
