A New Year
The end of a year and start of a new year are a time to reflect and look forward, as motorcyclists we will be planning our year some of us will be look at trips or improvements to our motorcycles. We may even be thinking of a new bike.
On new year’s day I reflected on a very up and down year as far as motorcycling was concerned, my accident at the start of the year being a particular low point, but coming 19th in the Iron Butt European Tour beating some of the best long distance riders in Europe and America was the high light of the year. The coming year starts with the launch of the NEW Tiger 800 XCX and XRX, I for one can’t wait to see both and ride them. The launch takes place on the 29th January. I asked Phil what he had planned well his words were something like this “well we are launching an adventure bike why don’t you talk about your adventure”.
So over the Christmas New Year break I’ve been preparing a short chat which I hope you will enjoy about the my European Tour adventure. Many customer have asked me if I could organise a rally like the European Tour but obviously not on the same scale, so again over Christmas I started looking at possible check points, so watch this space.Personally this year I will only be doing the Brit Butt Rally at the end of May, but I am also looking at a Four Corners Ride (John O’Groats, Lowestoft, Land End, St David’s) but with a difference starting and finishing at the same point approximately 2500 miles in 2 or 3 days haven’t decided.
My good friend John Young after some persuasion is to give a talk about his motorcycle trip around the Himalayas to the East Lancs Triumph Owners club in February. Remember there is no bad weather just bad clothing.
